Swiss Legal Intelligence Plugin for Cowork Desktop
BetterCallClaude transforms legal research, case strategy, and document drafting for Swiss lawyers. It provides deep integration with Swiss legal databases, multi-lingual analysis (DE/FR/IT/EN), and built-in Anwaltsgeheimnis (attorney-client privilege) protection -- 20 agents, 19 commands, 14 skills, and 9 MCP servers covering BGE/ATF/DTF precedent research, litigation strategy, adversarial analysis, legal drafting, citation verification, document intelligence, and CAS/TAS sports arbitration across all 26 Swiss cantons.
Claude Code CLI users: this repository is Cowork Desktop only. The CLI version is at fedec65/bettercallclaude-cli.
BetterCallClaude provides a structured methodology for handling legal work with AI assistance. The framework consists of five interconnected phases.
v4.9.3 — Critical fix: agents can now reach the MCP connectors in Cowork. The tool names declared in agent, skill, and command frontmatter were corrected to the plugin-scoped format required by Claude Cowork Desktop.
- Root cause — v4.9.1/v4.9.2 added
tools:frontmatter usingmcp__bettercallclaude-http-<server>__<tool>names, but Cowork expectsmcp__plugin_bettercallclaude_<server>__<tool>. Because the declared names didn't match, agents had no MCP tools available and fell back to web search for citation verification. - Fix — all 20 agents, 14 skills, and 26 commands now declare correctly scoped tool names (737 references updated). Example:
mcp__plugin_bettercallclaude_bge-search__search_bge. - Result — after updating to v4.9.3, agents, skills, and commands can directly invoke the Swiss legal databases (BGE/ATF/DTF search, statute lookup, citation verification, and more).
- Update note — Cowork's GitHub-synced marketplace may not auto-sync for Pro plan users. If the update doesn't appear, remove and re-add the marketplace in Cowork, or see
docs/plugin-update-guide.mdfor the manual workaround.
Content counts: 20 agents, 26 commands, 14 skills, 9 MCP servers in .mcp.json (7 remote HTTP on mcp.bettercallclaude.ch + swiss-caselaw SSE on mcp.opencaselaw.ch + ollama local STDIO).

The seven HTTP servers connect to https://mcp.bettercallclaude.ch (rate limit: 60 req/min per IP). The swiss-caselaw server connects to https://mcp.opencaselaw.ch. No API keys required for any server.

BetterCallClaude includes built-in Anwaltsgeheimnis (attorney-client privilege, Art. 321 StGB) compliance. A PreToolUse hook scans outgoing tool calls for privilege indicators in German (Anwaltsgeheimnis, Mandantengeheimnis, vertraulich), French (secret professionnel, confidentiel), and Italian (segreto professionale, confidenziale).

This repo contains the plugin only (agents, commands, skills, hooks, .mcp.json, and the bundled ollama local STDIO server). MCP server source code and the HTTP aggregator deployed to Railway at mcp.bettercallclaude.ch live in the separate fedec65/BetterCallClaudeMCP repo.
